Per Diem Hospital Assistant - Float Pool Orange and Irvine - Night Shift Position Summary: As part of the UCI Health Enterprise Float Pool, the Nursing Assistant aids professional and technical nursing personnel primarily by accomplishing a variety of duties and procedures directly related to patient care. Primary duties include taking and recording vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, maintaining a clean and safe unit environment, stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Take and record vital signs.

Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.

Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.

Stock unit supplies.

Operate hospital equipment under direction.

Perform routine clerical tasks.

Assist with other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Understanding of basic medical terminology.

Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.), Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with at least one completed clinical semester (exceptions for those hired prior to May 2010 who did not hold a certification).

Ability to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English.

Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.

Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
