POSITION SUMMARY
Performs clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies. Provides excellent patient care to all patients following AIDET guidelines. Has advanced knowledge of anatomy. Possesses the ability to work hand in hand with the Radiologist to best meet the patient’s needs. Knows the risks behind working with radioactive isotopes and works carefully with them.
EDUCATION Must have graduated from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES
New Mexico Nuclear Medicine license required.
ARRT (N) or CNMT license required.
DOT transportation certification required.
BLS issued through American Heart Association required.
SKILLS Thorough knowledge of isotopes and ordering of isotopes associated imaging equipment, anatomy and physiology, and terminology. Ability to perform venous access.
EXPERIENCE Minimum 1-year nuclear medicine experience required.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION
Responsible to: Manager of Radiology.
ENVIRONMENT
Bloodborne pathogen; exposure to various body fluids and radioactive isotopes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Lifts, transfers and positions patients and equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
