Senior Contract & Grant Analyst – UC Irvine School of Medicine Founded in 1965, UC Irvine is a member of the Association of American Universities and is ranked among the nation’s top 10 public universities by U.S. News & World Report.

As a Pre‑Award Contract and Grant Analyst in the Research Support Services unit, you will assist principal investigators with the development, budgeting, and submission of extramural research proposals and clinical trial cost analyses, and provide compliance oversight for all School of Medicine sponsored research.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and submit research proposals (basic and clinical) and manage related transactions.

Prepare proposal budgets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agency regulations and university policy.

Coordinate routing, Just‑In‑Time activities, and award approval, and prepare regular and ad‑hoc reports for faculty, chairs, and the Director of Contracts and Grants.

Provide training and assistance to faculty and staff in proposal development and award management.

Analyze current policies, implement process improvements, and disseminate updates to the research community.

Maintain contract and grant records in accordance with institutional and sponsor policies, and perform necessary financial analysis and reporting.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 4–5 years of experience in research administration within a university environment.

Deep knowledge of federal and non‑federal sponsor guidelines, NIH grant policies, and compliance regulations.

Strong organizational and communication skills with a customer‑service focus.

Proficiency in spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis and reporting.

Strong writing skills for drafting persuasive text to meet sponsor guidelines.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of human or animal subjects regulations, conflict of interest, biosafety, and other compliance requirements.

Two (2) years of UC research administration experience.
