General Description of Position The Supervisor oversees existing processes and improvements based on a variety of production needs. This position directs the production team in daily manufacture of existing products and processes, while working with the Engineering team on new process development, employee training, customer interaction, and collaboration with Kyocera sales/operations.
The Supervisor is responsible for the continual maintenance of a safe working environment, employee development, upkeep of production lines, and daily/monthly/yearly P/L sheet planning and results. This position reports to the Production Manager or equivalent and is accountable for all team functions and performance.
Responsibilities
Interview, supervise, develop, mentor, and coordinate schedules of production staff.
Interact with ITAR customers to ensure all requirements are addressed on production parts.
Assist in ITAR control of products, drawings, and related materials.
Assist engineering team in designing, installing, commissioning new production processes and tooling, monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes.
Select, manage, and work with sub‑contractors related to engineering and production.
Serve on the corrective action review board and review actions assigned to the department for implementation.
Observe, measure performance daily, adjust to achieve monthly metrics; review spreadsheets, yield, output and results.
Maintain high standards for safety, maintenance, on‑time delivery, quality, and production.
Calculate expense plans, coordinate purchases with supply management; seek approval from production or plant manager.
Prepare reports, flow diagrams, SPC, CAD drawings and charts as requested.
Participate in hiring, promotions, firing, performance reviews, or disciplinary processes; work closely with HR and plant management.
Work daily with manufacturing employees (operators, inspectors, machinists, etc.) and manage employee interactions with respect and development in mind.
Promote safe work practices and review accident investigations when applicable.
Collaborate with quality, other supervisory managers, production manager, EHS, scheduling, supply management, and planning daily.
Report departmental deliverables to plant production manager and/or plant manager monthly; prepare analysis on OTD and efficiency by machine.
Model professional and ethical behavior in reporting and decision making.
Qualifications
2‑year degree preferred.
High school diploma required with experience managing a production team in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to manage and motivate employees and meet deadlines and goals.
Knowledge of FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma principles helpful.
Computer skills: proficiency with Outlook, SAP, and Excel.
Ability to work well with people, both externally and internally.
Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
Ability to read blueprints; knowledge of machines, SPC, failure analysis, and engineering metrics.
Vision required: close vision and reading a computer screen.
Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.
Physical Activities Regularly required to sit, talk or hear; frequently use hands to handle, reach; occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, frequently lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision: close vision.
Environmental Conditions Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to high or precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles. Noise level usually moderate.
