Senior Litigation Paralegal – New York Insurance Defense
Base pay range
$50.00/hr - $70.00/hr Location

Onsite (transitioning to hybrid after approximately 2 months) Hours

5–10 years Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal with a strong background in New York insurance defense litigation to support a busy legal team. This role is ideal for a self‑directed paralegal who can independently manage complex litigation tasks, draft substantive legal documents without relying on templates, and confidently navigate New York procedural rules. The ideal candidate brings deep hands‑on litigation experience, excellent legal writing skills, and the ability to work closely with attorneys and internal stakeholders in a fast‑paced, detail‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities
Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery responses, discovery demands, motions, and affirmations from scratch (no templates) Assist attorneys in managing all phases of pending litigation matters Handle extensive document production, including organizing, reviewing, analyzing, and cataloging exhibits Coordinate with management and internal teams to gather documents and information responsive to discovery requests Maintain and manage case files, legal holds (via software), and electronic document repositories Perform legal research and cite‑check briefs and motions Monitor court deadlines and ensure compliance with CPLR and other applicable court and procedural rules Prepare and manage calendaring of deadlines and submission requirements Handle e‑filing through NYSCEF, PACER, and other state or federal filing systems Prepare required legal reports (daily, weekly, or as needed) Support attorneys with additional litigation and regulatory‑related tasks as assigned Required Qualifications
5–10 years of New York insurance defense litigation experience Demonstrated ability to draft motions and affirmations independently, without templates Strong experience preparing discovery responses and managing discovery demands In‑depth knowledge of New York Practice and CPLR Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Experience
Experience with regulatory matters, including state and federal proceedings Exposure to PSC filings or rate case litigation Experience supporting regulatory or administrative litigation matters Why This Role?
