Parking Control Officer (Part-time)

Overview
Performs responsible semiskilled work enforcing parking regulations on City streets; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a Police Sergeant. Inspecting parked automobiles for parking violations; marking tires and recording time. (The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) Operating a vehicle, patrols streets watching for over parked cars or other parking violations. Operating electronic tire marker and associated software. Writes tickets for parking violations. Marks tires and records time. Gives directions, answers inquiries from general public. Monitors parking meters. Checks for traffic hazards and forwards information to proper authority. Checks parking lots, no parking areas and handicapped zones for violations. Picks up and delivers money for parking tickets; delivers paperwork to court and related offices. Works traffic and crowd control at various events. Reports faded paint on curbs, vandalized signs and other obstacles that may impede enforcement or hinder the public from understanding and obeying the law. Performs related tasks as required. General knowledge of traffic and parking ordinances; some knowledge of general traffic laws and regulations; ability to work for short periods of time in inclement weather; ability to handle routine clerical and record keeping functions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public to include hostile and irate citizens. Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Special Requirements
