Basic Requirement : Information Technology (IT)-related experience, obtained through paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, demonstrating each of the following competences: Attention to Detail:

Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service:

Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication:

Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving:

Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the basic requirement and to be qualified at the

GS-7 , you must possess:

Specialized Experience:

At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level which is in or related to work in the Information Technology (IT) field. Specialized experience is defined as performing the following types of duties: providing desk support to users; participating in testing and upgrading of systems and applications; assisting with data recovery; and developing data and graphics.

OR

Education:

completed one full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. OR, possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, and meet at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; or election to membership on a national scholastic honor society.

All academic degrees

must be in one of the following fields from accredited and pre-accredited institutions:

computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

In addition to the basic requirement and to be qualified at the

GS-9 , you must possess:

Specialized Experience:

At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service, providing IT customer support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; providing user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications; assisting in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; and assisting in network monitoring and management.

OR

Education:

a Master's or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks; OR, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)-

The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
