Cardiac Cath Technologist - CLC
Position located at The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Job Summary Deliver high-quality patient care and technical expertise in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology procedures. Assist with cardiac, vascular, and interventional procedures, competently performing emergency interventions as needed, while adhering to established standards under the guidance of a credentialed invasive cardiologist or electrophysiologist. Functions may differ based on specialty between radiologic trained technologists and cardiovascular trained technologist.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare patient for Cardiac Cath and EP procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education.
Monitor and document hemodynamics and procedural events including moderate sedation per policy and departmental guidelines.
Identify cardiac rhythms, waveforms and abnormal ranges and take appropriate intervention.
Demonstrate ability to perform different aspects of responsibilities within the department such as circulator, monitor, scrub and holding area personnel assistant.
Provide patient safety related to age and condition. Assist with patient restraints and maintain precautions. Collect, report, and document data related to patient needs/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior.
Demonstrate knowledge and skills to interpret and respond to patient data and hemodynamic responses during pre, intra and post Cath and EP procedures.
Perform and report point of care testing (POCT).
Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and perform or assist others to perform proper aseptic and sterile technique, isolation procedures and infection control measures.
May support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular ailments with the use of a catheter determined by credentials.
Operate computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images and perform quality control measures for optimal image quality.
Practice proper entries and records on Radiology Information System, Cardiac Catheterization System, and Hospital Information System.
Monitor radiation exposure including examination of lead aprons for the department dependent on specialty.
Practice safety measures in radiography and environment of care dependent on specialty.
Perform related duties as required.
Required Education & Experience
Associate of Science degree or completion of a Cardiovascular Technology program or equivalent training.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Science degree or completion of a Cardiovascular Technology program or equivalent training.
Preferred Qualifications
Cardiac Cath and/or Interventional Radiology experience.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
ARRTR and Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist.
RCIS.
BLS / ACLS.
Salary Range Salary commensurate with experience.
