Job Summary As a Senior Physician Biller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and compliant billing of a wide range of claims, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, United Health Care, NYS No‑Fault, Worker’s Compensation, as well as research and combined accounts. Your attention to detail will be essential for resolving edits, gathering and securing necessary billing information, and ensuring compliance with payer guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of commercial, governmental, and research billing practices, including payer regulations. Handle accurate and timely billing to facilitate prompt payment.
Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to Biller I and Biller II positions, providing guidance and support.
Resolve claim rejections, reprocess claims as needed, and address payer and clearinghouse rejections. Manage claim‑related edits to ensure accurate submission.
Attach appropriate documentation for manual claims, including ER reports, itemized bills, and other medical records.
Achieve and exceed performance, productivity, and quality goals, maintaining a 98% accuracy rate and processing 125 claims per day (initially for 6 months, then monthly thereafter).
Adhere to federal, state, and physician billing requirements related to compliance issues. Maintain flexibility in work schedule to meet departmental needs.
Exhibit strong communication skills and manage multiple priorities effectively in a high‑pressure environment.
Utilize Excel, Word, Outlook, and billing/eligibility software proficiently.
Qualifications and Experience
Associate degree in a related field, or a High School diploma with 2 additional years of relevant experience. Certified Professional Biller is preferred.
5+ years of billing experience in a physician billing setting (Associate degree) or 7+ years (High School diploma).
Previously held role of Biller II.
Epic experience is a plus.
Education/Certifications
Associate degree in a related field preferred.
High School Diploma with additional experience accepted.
Certified Professional Biller preferred.
