Maintenance Technician – Mentor, OH Job Summary:
Climax Metals (a division of RBC Bearings) is currently looking for a Maintenance Technician. The ideal candidate would provide hands‑on building maintenance expertise, including electrical and mechanical support for both plant and office settings.
Responsibilities:
Performs maintenance, repair and preventive maintenance for facility
Responsible for daily maintenance duties assigned
Performs light electrical and custodial work
Responsible for lock‑out/tag‑out and plant safety policies and procedures
Works according to verbal instructions, work orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, technical publications and other instructions to meet machine requirements and local and state codes and specifications for facilities
Replace fuses, lights, gauges, exhaust hoods and other operating items in the plant and office
Repair water leaks, plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets and faucets
Repair locks, doors, and hardware
May be required to paint or repair floors and walls
May be required to do snow removal and apply ice to walkways
Maintain associated records and inventories
Operate forklifts and other equipment related to the job
Maintain maintenance work and part storage areas
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or specialized vocational training or equivalent experience
3 – 5 years related factory or machine shop experience – working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical operating systems.
Able to read and interpret specifications, operations manuals, diagrams, blueprints and technical bulletins while performing maintenance, troubleshooting or corrective repairs
Ability to handle plant repair work orders
Work independently
Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork
Good planning skills
Good verbal and written communication
Proactive in resolving maintenance problems
Team player
Work under pressure with a variety of people
Ability to use measuring equipment (i.e., tape measures, levels, plug gages, micrometers, feeler gages, etc.)
Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools
Knowledge of special tools and equipment to perform necessary maintenance functions
Working knowledge of applicable machine and equipment regulations, standards and practices
Able to drive tow motor
Ability to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 85 pounds or heavier
