The Behavioral Health Clinician is a key member of the therapeutic team. They are responsible for supplying necessary, culturally sensitive clinical interventions within the realm of the program. The Behavioral Health Clinician works closely with the director, case manager, medical staff, direct support professionals, and programming manager to ensure appropriate evaluations and treatment interventions for the youth.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Behavioral Health Clinician provides individual, family, and group counseling both on-site and through telehealth for youth ages 18‑21, coordinates with Fair Futures coaches for vocational, educational, and housing services, and collaborates with external resources to provide comprehensive care.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Meet with assigned residents for weekly sessions, engage and remain in contact with their parents, ensure home visits are conducted, and ensure psychiatric, medical, and recreational services are provided.

Work closely with Fair Futures coaches regarding vocational, educational, and housing services.

Identify and provide access to specific concrete services and community resources.

Engage families and resources in planning for services.

Advocate with external resources such as mental health providers, medical treatment facilities, community members, etc. on behalf of residents.

Provide individual, family, and group counseling on-site and via telehealth for youth ages 18‑21.

Provide support to youth who identify as LGBTQAI+.

Liaise between program, family court, ACS, case planners, youth’s family members, and relevant community members.

Incorporate DBT skill building into work with youth and their families.

Attend other planned ACS and school conferences, as well as court hearings.

TEAM PROCESS

Participate in weekly team meetings and may lead the meeting on occasion. Prepare integrative treatment plans based on all assessments from the other professionals and ensure follow‑up as necessary.

Conduct meetings to ensure proper treatment, progress in program, and coordination of goals.

Provide psychoeducation and intervention support to Direct Support Professionals.

Work with Direct Support Professionals to enhance communication and cooperation between them and consumer families.

Provide crisis intervention as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

DOCUMENTATION

Complete paperwork, including case notes, FASPs, PHRs, and court reports, in a timely manner.

Complete psychosocial assessment within the first 30 days of youth’s admission.

Participate in audit preparation.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE

License Masters in Social Work (MSW), LMFT, LMHC, LCAT, LCSW or PhD with a minimum of one year of relevant experience with a similar population.

Valid driver’s license required.

Spanish speaking a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of electronic health record systems or CONNECTIONS preferred.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word.

Aptitude for learning new systems and application software; experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.

Experience with telemental health platforms a plus.
