Construction Inspector - Water / Wastewater
This role is a Construction Inspector responsible for inspecting work on water/wastewater pipeline and facilities projects in Oklahoma. You will work independently and perform duties in the construction field office such as communicating issues, providing solutions, participating in project progress meetings, and actively documenting contractors’ work and field conditions.
You will work under the direction of a Resident Engineer or Project Manager.
Base pay range $74,500.00/yr - $125,900.00/yr
Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
Perform quality assurance inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and industry standards.
Monitor and inspect the work of contractors to ensure proper construction methods and techniques are utilized, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
Review construction plans, specifications, submittals, drawings, change orders, and Requests for Information (RFIs) to confirm that the requirements of the construction contract are applied in the field.
Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including inspection logs, daily reports, digital photographic documentation, force account records, contractor pay estimate notes and quantities, materials testing, and other construction records.
Identify, document, and track the resolution of contractor work that is out of compliance or deficient, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
Attend and participate in pre‑installation, pre‑construction and periodic construction meetings as required.
Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam and other relevant software to summarize inspection findings, analyze data, and track progress.
Travel anywhere in the state of Oklahoma with adequate notice.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering OR relevant experience in lieu of education.
8+ years of water/wastewater and/or facilities operations or inspection and construction management experience.
Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of drainage and utility systems construction materials, and the approved methods and equipment used in making physical tests of construction materials.
Familiarity with large‑scale construction project practices, especially on projects involving multiple contractors and consultants.
Ability to walk construction site, including walking up and down slopes, climbing ladders, and walking on scaffolding and other temporary structures.
