Mission The successful candidate will bring an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in scheduling of field activities, subcontractors and crew members.

Inspect work performed to ensure it meets specifications and is on schedule.

Direct and supervise the activities of the crew in the performance of their regular duties in the crew foreman’s absence.

Assist with analyzing construction equipment needs and trucking requirements.

Maintain daily records of all significant project facts, crew timesheets, events and conditions.

Assist with the instruction and training of employees and ensure the safety of the workers.

Supervise all phases of a paving operation such as maintenance of equipment, employees, and distribution of product.

Aid crew foreman in implementing environmental, health and safety regulations and policies.

Maintain and repair equipment.

Understand the basic knowledge of paving applications and recognize potential problems before breakdowns occur.

Keep equipment serviced, lubricated, and in good working order, including housekeeping.

Understand the dangers involved in an interstate operation.

Work safely and follow the company’s policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

Experience in roadway and site construction.

Knowledge of traffic control standards.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Commitment to the company’s safety program and practices.

Knowledge of and ability to operate paving equipment (e.g., pavers, rollers, broom tractor, lute and tack truck).

Travel in short intervals may be required.

Fluent English language skills.

Current, valid driver's license.

Education And/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

5+ years’ experience in road paving management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Physical Demands Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day; sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping; withstand vibration and noise from equipment; use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions; stand, walk, and occasionally sit; lift and move up to 60 pounds; meet vision and hearing requirements (20/40 vision, excellent hearing).

Work Environment The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, wet or humid conditions, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
