Volunteer Transportation Program Specialist

Program Specialist – Volunteer Transportation / Workforce Engagement As a Volunteer Transportation Specialist, you will provide functional support to build, sustain and energize the departmental and/or volunteer workforce. You will create and maintain continuous and robust volunteer engagement, collaborate with volunteer services staff, and support implementation of sound workforce engagement principles to build effective teams in operations and program service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in volunteer workforce planning within assigned area.

Support functional leads and supervisors in engaging the volunteer workforce aligned with the volunteer recruitment and engagement cycle.

Engage volunteers as equal team members with specific responsibilities and support the workforce engagement team.

Assist with the training and skill development of volunteers to enable mission delivery.

Strive to achieve a diverse workforce, including disabilities and functional needs, representative of the communities served.

Support implementation of a targeted volunteer engagement plan; manage assigned program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures in alignment with established metrics.

Evaluate and report on the capacity and effectiveness of programs and services; prepare recommendations for continuous improvement.

May support mission‑related components by implementing workforce engagement principles and practices to build effective teams.

What You Need To Succeed

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Abilities: Teamwork, coordination of staff and volunteer activities, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, analytical and decision‑making skills, facilitation, problem‑solving, project management, process improvement, and customer orientation.

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with federal, state and local employment laws.

Travel may be required.

Standard Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Pay Range: $47,000 – $62,000 annually (salary varies with geographic location and other factors)
