What does a Senior Manager of External Communications do? They will lead the company's public‑facing communications strategy for Swire Coca‑Cola, USA. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on execution, ensuring consistent, positive representation of the company's messages, brand, values, and achievements across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of a paid, earned, shared, and owned communication strategy that enhances Swire Coca‑Cola’s brand and presence on external‑facing platforms.
Lead and develop paid media content and execution; earned media outreach, including press releases and media pitches; all company social media channels; as well as the company website and other owned media channels.
Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on external messaging, public positioning, and media engagement.
Develop a robust social media calendar, support the ongoing social media postings of the CEO, and provide regular suggested social media posts for senior leaders.
Provide crisis communication support in coordination with cross‑functional teams.
Monitor industry trends, news cycles, and social sentiment to identify risks and opportunities.
Support community relations and corporate social responsibility initiatives by amplifying partnerships, events, and sustainability efforts.
Represent the communications function on cross‑functional project teams supporting major business initiatives.
Provide regular reporting to track metrics for the external communications program.
Partner with internal communications and other teams to align external and internal messaging.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing preferred.
6+ years public relations or communications experience, either as part of an in‑house communications team or in an agency or news media setting.
Proven experience managing external communications for a complex, multi‑location organization preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage outside agencies and partners preferred.
Bilingual skill set in English and Spanish preferred.
Ability to independently identify stories, develop media news hooks, match stories to journalists, and have the persistence to appropriately identify, pitch, and secure media coverage.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to independently create crisp, effective copy for various audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally across teams and execute communication initiatives from concept to delivery.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects to deadline with minimal oversight.
