The Role The Lead Technician supports Mach production and prototype operations by guiding a team of technicians to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient manufacturing processes. The Lead Technician is responsible for inventory accuracy, overseeing equipment performance, and coordinating activities to support the delivery of flight vehicles. This role requires strong mechanical and technical capabilities, experience with aerospace-grade tooling and equipment, and the ability to lead technical personnel in a highly regulated, detail-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Closely monitor the quality of work during each stage of build and own the quality of assigned work orders.

Ensure that all procedural steps are followed and documented correctly.

Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions following equipment failures, nonconformances, or process deviations.

Provide hands-on leadership, training, and mentorship to full-time and temporary production technicians.

Assign, coordinate, and prioritize work orders in alignment with production schedules and engineering requirements.

Conduct quality checks on completed maintenance tasks with emphasis on precision, documentation accuracy, and adherence to process controls.

Lead daily task outs, monitor daily progress across their team, and fix and communicate blockers.

Support technician skill development through structured training and cross-functional exposure.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify opportunities to enhance equipment capability, reduce downtime, and improve process repeatability.

Support development and revision of maintenance SOPs, work instructions, and technical procedures.

Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and hazardous material handling.

Engage in R&D / NPI support, trials and prototyping.

Identify small improvements (tooling, process gaps, quality/rework fixes).

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or assembly environment.

Internal applicants must be in their current role for at least 6 months.

Experience working with engineering, quality, and test teams to drive process improvements.

Proficient in navigating common manufacturing software platforms such as ERP, MRP, MES, etc.

Strong work ethic and motivation to support the mission of national defense.

Team-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to sudden changes in daily priorities.

Physical ability to lift 35 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of leadership experience in high-volume manufacturing. Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.

Experience with new product introduction (NPI), R&D builds, or early-stage prototyping.

Demonstrated success supporting continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, 5S).

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of factors, including base salary, work experience, education, and skills.
