Responsibilities Research Senior Associate who designs, executes, and manages research projects investigating in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology. Responsibilities include collaborating with the principal investigator (PI) to develop and implement goals and objectives of studies; conceptualizing, designing, and executing complex laboratory experiments; planning and executing advanced molecular and cellular techniques; coordinating and overseeing processing and analysis of data; analyzing and interpreting research data; developing and implementing new or revised research methodology and techniques; planning and testing experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods; developing and establishing research controls, criteria, and standards; performing critical literature analysis; collaborating with PI to write and prepare research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars; assisting with development, writing, and preparation of grant proposals to obtain new or renewal extramural funding; investigating, identifying, and recommending possible sources of research funding; participating in developing and managing grant budgets; monitoring expenses; monitoring and enforcing laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable regulations; training and supervising research staff; managing daily operations of the laboratory; overseeing procurement of lab supplies and equipment; providing technical assistance; negotiating and overseeing equipment service contracts and repairs.
Minimum Education Required
Master’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master’s Degree.
Considerable experience in a biological/health research capacity is required.
Doctoral degree in an appropriate biological/health science field is desirable.
