Job Summary The Ramp Supervisor will lead, direct, and coordinate the efforts of ground, line, and cabin service personnel and ensure the timely delivery of all services for airlines as contracted. The Ramp Supervisor will be accountable for safety, operations standards, policy implementation, client relations, and financial performance for the ramp operations.
Job Responsibilities
Establish shift assignments for full‑time and part‑time employees.
Monitor and ensure safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment.
Report discrepancies that may exist in functionality or mechanics of ground support equipment.
Coordinate with each assigned carrier so that cargo and baggage services meet carrier needs and on‑time schedules are met.
Ensure equipment is in safe and efficient operating status.
Conferring with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities with other departments.
Determine manpower requirements, and conduct disciplinary procedures fairly, timely, and consistently.
Comply with attendance/tardiness standards.
Perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
Ensure necessary ground equipment is available in the ramp area and bagroom for upcoming flights.
Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials identification labels, aircraft loading manifest, and baggage routing tags.
Follow and comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations.
Ensure crews are briefed before flights on positions to take and how flight will work.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must possess computer experience (≥6 months) and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to navigate electronic devices (computers, fax machines, printers, timeclock, etc.).
Proven track record in supervising a business unit.
Experience in operational planning and resource allocation.
Working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
Understanding of commercial issues in aviation.
Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Capable of processing information in a timely manner.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Basic computer literacy.
Previous ramp or airline experience.
Must successfully complete all training requirements and maintain certifications throughout employment.
Must clear an FBI fingerprint background check.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically fit to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing and pulling for extended periods.
Capable of repetitively lifting up to 70 pounds in confined spaces.
Willing to work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to loud noises.
Specific Working Hours
Must be able and flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, and holiday‑specific shifts.
Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non‑routine operations.
