Job Summary The Radio Technician is responsible for the frequency coordination, initial installation, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance of new and existing radio systems at various tower locations and within the communications center. Provides hands‑on assistance involving troubleshooting and diagnostic support for all related systems, equipment failures, or service issues.
Essential Functions & Duties
Communication systems: Installs and maintains all equipment at tower sites as well as the Communications Center.
Provides support to the IT department by evaluating/programming computer routers and networking systems within the communications center.
Assists the Avionics department for programming aircraft radios to the appropriate dispatch frequencies.
Administrative duties: Coordinates the licensing process of radio frequencies with the FCC.
Manges accurate records of communications systems, equipment performance and work accomplished.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of two years as a wireless communication technician.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational technical training in wireless communications systems and electronics preferred.
Skills:
Knowledge of Zetron dispatch consoles, Motorola radios, Cisco routers, and dispatch voice recorders.
Credentials & Licenses
Work conditions: occasional movement on foot, ladders, stairs; occasional lifting over 50 pounds; typical interior/office environment; standing, walking, repetitive motions required; visual and hearing acuity required.
