Health Information Specialist II

This is an entry level position focused on processing all releases of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and accurate manner, while protecting patient privacy and complying with HIPAA regulations. Responsibilities
Process release of information (ROI) requests for medical records in a timely and accurate manner. Safeguard patient privacy by ensuring access is restricted to authorized individuals and releases comply with requests, authorization, policy and HIPAA regulations. Document information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors. Operate in a high-volume environment and meet productivity expectations as outlined at the site. Handle requests such as Insurance requests, DDS Requests, Workers Comp Requests and Subpoenas. Respond to requests for patient records from internal facilities and external sources and transmit them appropriately. May assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry. Adhere to Company and Facility policies and maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information. Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software. Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and fluctuating volumes; assist with additional duties as needed. Prepare new patient charts by gathering documents from paper sources and/or electronic health records; ensure records are complete and in standard order. Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record system. Handle inquiries and respond to requests for patient records from various sources. May schedule pick-ups as required. Other duties as assigned. What You Will Bring To The Table
High School Diploma or GED. Ability to commute between locations as needed. Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required. Basic computer proficiency; comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers and other office equipment. Professional verbal and written communication skills in English. Detail- and quality-oriented approach for accurate and compliant medical records. Strong data entry skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and respond to changing priorities. Able to work with minimal supervision. Preferred Skills
Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology. Familiarity with different EHR and billing systems. Experience working with subpoenas. We Offer
