Certified Coder - In-Patient - Full Time Day Shift (Remote) Memorial Hospital of Gardena is seeking a Certified Coder for a remote, full‑time day‑shift position. The coder will accurately and timely code inpatient and outpatient medical records, maintain high coding accuracy, and support efficient reimbursement and patient care.

Job Summary The Inpatient & Outpatient Coder plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely coding of medical records for both inpatient and outpatient encounters. The coder must maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate, keep current knowledge of coding rules and regulations, and consistently contribute to department operations and communications. The coder’s work reflects the mission, vision, and values of Memorial Hospital of Gardena and upholds the standards of AIDET patient communication.

Essential Functions

Assign ICD‑10CM/PCS and CPT codes using appropriate source documents and current coding regulations.

Complete at least ten continuing education units (CEUs) per year.

Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and productivity rates of four inpatient charts per hour and five outpatient surgical charts per hour.

Prioritize workload volume, coding and abstracting the oldest accounts first and coding any account with charges greater than $50,000 before the oldest accounts.

Abstract data elements from discharge records onto the hospital’s patient information system with an average accuracy rate of 98% and participate in timely submission of OSHPD patient data.

Use clear, concise professional communication with coworkers, patients, and external customers.

Abide by HIPAA regulations, act with a sense of urgency, complete daily productivity, and attend monthly training as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Experience

Minimum six months of experience in an acute care or inpatient setting.

Critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC skills.

License / Certifications

American Health Information Management CCS credential preferred.

AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention–Part 1, due within 30 days from hire date.
