Position Summary ARL Bio Pharma is the leading pharmaceutical quality and safety testing laboratory in the country and has earned a stellar reputation for being the leader in quality science and customer service. This is an entry‑level role, the Data Processing Chemist I, will be responsible for collaborating with chemists, of various levels, performing supportive tasks to ensure efficient processing of samples. This position will use various technical software and critical thinking to format data in compliance with internal, federal, and industry guidelines. In this role the Data Processing Chemist will develop problem‑solving skills by independently and collaborating on identifying and resolving testing issues within assigned task groups.
Participating in departmental discussions to assess technical and operational issues including routine sample and project testing and results, SOPs, and client relations. This position will involve the use of multiple computers and software in the execution of daily tasks including the use of Microsoft Office products, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and various other web‑based systems.
Because of the vital nature of this work and due to federal regulations governing our work, we do not allow medical marijuana cards, and we do random drug testing on all our employees.
Position Duties
Perform various processing tasks with various instrument software, lab equipment, and word processing programs, such as Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Information Management System(LIMS).
Process detailed Chromatography data for QMS compliance, reporting and correcting any errors or discrepancies, within guidelines and specifications.
Accurately record results of tests and samples in compliance with internal company guidelines, work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and QMS.
Strict adherence to standard laboratory operations and quality management systems (QMS).
Maintain data review and compliance with adherence to department standard operation procedures, safety, industry, and federal regulations.
Collaborate and generate unique ideas involving process streamlining and efficiently meeting deadlines.
Maintain laboratory environment by cleaning and keeping work areas, desks, and office space orderly.
Assist department inventory reporting needs to appropriate personnel.
Position Requirements
Associate Degree in Chemistry or related science field, or equivalent diploma with 1 year of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceuticals industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent diploma with 2 years of experience in laboratory or pharmaceuticals industry is preferred.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional laboratory environment using typical protective equipment (eye protection, gloves, lab coats, etc.).
This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Essential duties involve periodic exposure to toxic and/or hazardous chemicals, solvents, and other environmental substances.
Exposure to strong odors and varying temperatures.
The noise level is moderate.
Primarily an English‑speaking workplace.
Attendance at the office is required.
Physical Requirements
Routinely stand and walk in operations of duties including walking between buildings daily and some filing is required.
This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs (if an object weighs more than 50 lbs, ARL requires a two‑person job or use of carts).
Ability to sit and stand in front of a computer and/or laboratory equipment for extended periods, with intermittent twisting/bending to reach instruments or supplies surrounding equipment.
Ability to use hand strength and finger dexterity to perform grasping and fine manipulation of precise equipment.
Operation of standard office equipment.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English to receive and communicate information for standard and complex operations and emergencies clearly and accurately.
Requires visual acuity to read and write words and numbers and to see in the normal visual range, including ability to distinguish colors and shapes with or without correction.
Requires hearing in the normal audio range and communicating accurately with or without correction.
