Overview The CCL Registered Nurse demonstrates excellent customer service performance and supports a work environment in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare, and the commitment of Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. The CCL RN uses the nursing process, develops a plan of nursing care and then coordinates and delivers care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. CCL nurses have the requisite skills and knowledge to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate the outcomes of interventions. The CCL RN addresses the physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual responses of their patients. The CCL RN is concerned with patient safety as well as physiological and behavioral responses throughout the CCL experience. The CCL RN works under the supervision of the Manager/Coordinator or Cardiologist. The CCL RN must possess excellent computer and organizational skills. The CCL RN is responsible and accountable for assisting the patient to move as rapidly, uneventfully, safely and effectively as possible through their procedure, identifying problems and potential problems, and reporting them to the physician.

Clinical contact with patients in the adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Ability to appropriately assess, care for and treat patients according to the age-appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant Healthcare.

Establishes priorities and makes ethically sound decisions to ensure safe patient care.

Knowledge of nursing processes and experience in healthcare environment.

Administers and evaluates pharmacological and other therapeutic treatment regimens.

Responds to emergency situations to promote optimal patient outcomes by recognizing changes in the patient’s health status.

Functions with an awareness and application of safety as identified within the organization.

Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strives to manage situations in a reduced-risk manner.

Uses principles of aseptic practice in varying situations.

Monitors patient hemodynamic data during procedures.

Documents patient data to ensure continuity in the provision and coordination of patient care.

Effectively communicates patient care needs / expectations / priorities with team members.

Acts as a resource / educator for team members.

Collaborates effectively with patient care units to facilitate safe patient outcomes.

Documents on all hospital and department records as required.

Serves as a mentor for other nurses.

Performs departmental projects as required.

Attends and participates in unit meetings.

Adheres to unit / departmental policies, procedures and unit structure standards.

Functions as a responsible team member.

Maintains confidentiality in relation to patients, families, and the organization.

Appropriately represents Covenant Healthcare by promoting a positive image to the departments, medical staff, leadership and outside constituents.

Maintains professional standards by actively participating in continuing education activities, patient outcome activities, and inservices related to area of practice and ages of patient populations.

Contributes to organization success targets for patient satisfaction and net operating margin.

Qualifications Education / Experience

Nursing Degree (AND, Diploma, BSN) from an accredited school of nursing.

License to practice professional nursing (RN) in the State of Michigan.

ACLS required.

BLS required.

Previous critical care and unit-specific preferred but not required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrates principles of aseptic practice in all situations.

Demonstrates knowledge in cardiac and interventional procedures.

Demonstrates ability to perform hemodynamic monitoring.

Excellent computer skills.

Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co-workers.

Demonstrates an awareness of and assumes self-responsibility for working within the scope of the CCL RN role.

Demonstrates the ability to remain calm during crisis situations.

Demonstrates the ability to problem-solve and prioritize unit needs independently, efficiently and effectively.
