Overview
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing high-complexity clinical laboratory testing in support of increased Kidney Care and Fresenius testing volume. This role ensures accurate specimen analysis, result reporting, and strict adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards, directly contributing to patient care and diagnostic excellence.

Contract Details
Position Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Start: As Soon As Possible
Pay Rate: $30.00 – $40.00/hour
Shift/Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Perform specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting in accordance with laboratory SOPs
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and review/release test results
Maintain complete and accurate records of all testing performed
Perform and document quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), calibrations, and maintenance
Ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards
Identify testing issues and take corrective action or escalate to senior technologist/supervisor
Document all corrective actions when test systems deviate from acceptable performance
Report STAT and critical results according to departmental procedures
Maintain reagent integrity (received dates, expiration dates, opened dates)
Participate in training, competency assessments, and departmental meetings
Support regulatory or government inspections as required
Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of the laboratory
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision
Required Skills & Knowledge
Solid understanding of clinical laboratory testing principles
Strong knowledge of QC and QA processes
Ability to work across multiple laboratory disciplines
Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computer applications
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple procedures simultaneously
Excellent documentation, communication, and customer service skills
Commitment to patient confidentiality and data integrity
Education & Certification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (preferred)
BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology
Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433
National certification (ASCP or AMT) required or eligibility to obtain
Foreign-educated candidates must provide IERF credential evaluation
U.S.-educated candidates must provide official transcripts
Work Experience
1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred
Minimum 1 year of high-complexity testing experience required for candidates with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology
National and/or state licensure as required
Additional Requirements
Ability to interact professionally with internal departments and external clients
Strong customer service skills when handling inquiries
Flexibility to support increased testing volumes
Participation in all required safety and compliance training
