Join us for a Nurse Extern PRN Float role at TriStar Summit Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare.
Job Summary The Nurse Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the Nurse Extern’s skills/training and the needs of the department, consistently maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the assigned department.
Communicate pertinent information to appropriate individuals.
Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.
Document patient care information in the appropriate computer screens.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) for assigned patients.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (Required).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current (obtained/maintained within the time frames required by hospital policy).
Currently a student enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program.
Can be considered for Nurse Extern after completion of the first nursing semester or as a CNA in the first semester of an RN program.
Must obtain Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of employment start date.
