Position Summary
This is a per diem RN position in the Cortland MC Cancer Center. The Oncology nurse provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients and is responsible for delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, and evidence-based quality care, practicing in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Experience Minimum of two years of practice as a registered nurse in an acute care setting is preferred but not required.
Education Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program. A BSN is preferred but not required.
Licenses & Certifications
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of employment
BLS
Specialty certification recommended: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate, Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required by units or specialty
Essential Functions
Employs nursing professional practice by assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
Develops updates and coordinates patient plan of care to achieve patient goals.
Optimizes patient outcomes and helps patient transition across the care continuum.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Performs and maintains essential competencies such as administering chemotherapy, antibiotics, blood and iron infusions, and other therapeutic treatments.
Follows provider orders in relation to patient care and documents interventions.
Advocates for patients to promote safe and quality patient care.
Provides ethical and holistic care by partnering with other healthcare providers within and outside the department.
Facilitates learning environment for patients, educating them on disease processes and treatments.
Provides health literacy materials to patients.
Other Duties Other duties as assigned.
Pay Range $37.50–$53.06 per hour + 15% per diem differential.
