This position supervises the daily activities of the assigned department by coordinating in‑service and ongoing education, monitoring quality control and safety processes, hiring and training new staff, evaluating performance, and scheduling work shifts. Staff operates in support of the environment of the facility and is tasked with materials management and maintenance of the overall conditions of the assigned facility. This position is not responsible for providing clinical patient care.
Responsibilities
Supervises the daily operations of the department including interviewing and hiring staff, training, creating work schedules, and distributing work assignments.
Enforces the department's written standards of practice, policies and procedures, and initiates corrective action as needed.
Evaluates job performance to ensure department standards are maintained.
Resolves problems, provides support, and expedites service to hospital departments.
Monitors safety and quality assurance functions by inspecting processes for completeness and accuracy.
Maintains department records and prepares monthly reports.
Monitors, orders and maintains stock of department supplies and equipment.
Participates in hospital committees and meetings as assigned.
May assist in budget preparation.
Performs additional duties of the department as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.
Ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to develop relationships with patients, guests, and co‑workers.
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to ensure patient information is guarded and respected.
Demonstrated organization, human relations, and effective communication skills.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field, or the equivalency.
One (1) year of experience in a related area.
Depending upon department of hire, a valid State of Utah Driver’s License may be required.
Depending upon department of hire, a valid CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may require lifting up to 50 pounds and light work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects involving patient care or medical equipment. The position may stand for sustained periods and walk long distances between work sites.
Employee must meet the above requirements with or without accommodation.
