Court Registry Officer, Nelson District Court Join to apply for the Court Registry Officer role at Public Defence Service - New Zealand.

In this role, you'll be part of a close-knit, supportive team dedicated to the smooth and successful operation of the Court. Every day brings new challenges and the chance to work with a diverse range of people—including defendants, witnesses, families, Oranga Tamariki, lawyers, and police officers. You'll play a key part in ensuring justice is delivered efficiently and respectfully.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

Court Taking – facilitate the smooth operation of the Court, introduce Judges in English and Te Reo Māori, manage jurors, and general administration of the Court.

Customer Service – answer customer queries face‑to‑face, by phone, or via email in the onsite customer service area.

Case Management – maintain accurate and up‑to‑date files with a large component of data entry.

Key Skills and Experience

Highly organised – manage and re‑prioritise tasks in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.

Flexible and adaptable – respond quickly as new matters arise.

Detail‑orientated and observant – ensure case information is accurate.

Able to multi‑task – move from one task to another quickly.

Willing to learn – keep up with changing legislation and court processes.

Resilient – handle sensitive cases at high volume.

Salary The remuneration band for this role is $59,729 to $80,794 – the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
