Overview
This is seasonal supervisory work in the area of recreation which follows well established procedures. An employee in this class is responsible for supervising and evaluating all counselors and Assistant Site Directors. Employee is responsible for contact with parents and dealing with all special incidents that occur. Required to exercise some independent judgment in working out details of assignments and must have the ability to solve problems as they arise and exercise supervision. Schedule
Summer Camp 2026 dates are to be determined, tentatively June - August 2026. Days will be Monday - Friday, any time between 7 AM - 6 PM. This is a seasonal position, so consistent availability is key in staffing our summer camp. Any time off requests need to be shared as early as possible in the hiring process and are subject to approval based on staffing needs. Responsibilities
Develops and supervises the implementation of games, sports, individual and group activities, arts and crafts, special events, and aquatic related activities for all assigned recreational areas. Responsible for supervising and evaluating all counselors and Assistant Site Directors. Responsible for contact with parents and dealing with all special incidents that occurs. Displays leadership ability in planning and directing recreational activities, issues and maintains recreational equipment. Qualifications
College Graduate preferred. One (1) year or five (5) seasons of full-time paid experience leading recreational or arts and crafts programs or child care. Broward County teachers preferred. Background and Work Environment
Background requirements including a fingerprint and drug screening will be shared during the onboarding process. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as camp sites (schools, Gyms), field trip venues, outdoor areas and buses, e.g., use of safe work place practices with equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations.
