The Juneau School District is seeking a dedicated and dynamic educator to join our districtwide special education team, supporting Pre-K-12 students across schools. This position plays a critical role in fostering inclusion, belonging, and student success, with a strong emphasis on implementing effective behavioral supports. Responsibilities
Manage a student caseload on a special education team and contribute to a dynamic and innovative program, working effectively to enhance the educational program within the school and the district. Be aware of, and able to use, multiple forms of assessment; implement behavioral supports and monitoring through Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and district procedures. Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, families, and students to promote inclusive practices and positive outcomes. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in education. Valid Alaska Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement. Experience managing diverse caseloads across multiple settings and exceptionalities. Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and current research-based interventions. Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans. Effective collaboration skills for working with general education staff, support personnel, families, and students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that promote positive relationships. Demonstrated proficiency with IDEA and Alaska special education regulations and compliance standards. Cultural responsiveness and commitment to equity and belonging for all students, including students with disabilities. Valid Alaska Driver's License and Insurance. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in education. Valid Alaska Teaching Certificate with Special Education and Early Childhood Education endorsements. Five or more years of experience teaching special education in pre-K-12 settings. Three or more years of experience designing and implementing whole-school or whole-district behavior supports. Recent advanced training and/or current credentials in behavioral support (e.g., BCBA, Mandt, Pyramid Model). Extensive experience delivering professional development or coaching related to inclusive practices and behavior intervention support. Advanced teacher coaching experience and/or credentialing. Compensation: Salary is dependent on experience and education.
