Part‑Time Adjunct Faculty Pool – Librarian
Sequoias Community College District serves a diverse community of learners and is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution. We seek candidates who exhibit an understanding and commitment to the community college mission, who are dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning, and who have a passion for student success. The Library/Learning Resource Center is currently adding adjunct faculty to its pool. Screening committees conduct candidate screening. Applications will remain in the queue for consideration until a need arises, or for one year in active status. Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center. Part‑time adjunct faculty positions are temporary and do not accrue tenure.
Job Duties
Provide in‑person and online reference assistance and research consultation to students, faculty, and staff at the Ask a Librarian desk, including one‑on‑one appointments, at all sites (Visalia, Hanford and/or Tulare).
Teach library instruction sessions and facilitate library orientations.
Teach or co‑teach library workshops.
Engage in collection management duties (e.g. weeding, purchasing, and evaluating collections in one or more subject areas).
Act as library liaison for one or more subject areas.
Assist teaching faculty in locating academic resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER).
Create and update online resources (e.g. research guides and websites).
Promote library resources, services, and outreach efforts to the campus community.
Opportunity to teach credit‑bearing library courses.
Qualifications
Earned MLS (MLIS) degree from an ALA‑accredited institution or the equivalent.
Minimum qualifications for all disciplines are documented in “Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges.”
