Safety Associate

The Safety Associate acts as a resource to all company employees, offering mentoring, coaching and instruction on all matters of safety, policies and best practices. The Safety Associate is responsible for identifying opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents and health risks.
Responsibilities
Oversee and educate on safety programs, policies and best practices on multiple jobsites.
Perform jobsite audits to identify and mitigate hazards, always looking for opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents and health risks.
Lead Toolbox Talks on jobsites with crew members.
Identify PPE requirements and provide PPE to crew members.
Inspect rigging and ensure proper use, maintenance, replacement and recertification as required.
Collaborate with management to develop, prepare and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
Provide training both on the job site and in a classroom setting.
Document deficiencies and corrective actions.
Stop operations and activities that could harm staff or damage equipment.
Evaluate the effectiveness of safety and security programs.
Wear required clothing: jeans, shirt with minimum 4” sleeves, work boots, hi‑visibility vest, hard hat and safety glasses.
Desired Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Acceptable driving record.
2+ years of safety experience in construction (earthmoving and excavations).
High school degree or GED required.
Extensive knowledge of company policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness.
OSHA 30 certification.
Bi‑lingual in English and Spanish.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Walk uneven ground on jobsites.
Climb ladders.
Extended standing and sitting.
Lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Work in an outdoor environment around large equipment.
Drive company vehicles.
Must be able to perceive visual and auditory cues to ensure safe and efficient work performance.
