Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays. Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards. Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Superintendent for action. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data. Oversees the daily operations of production departments including, but not limited to, machining, assembly, and/or welding. Conducts employee training on equipment operations, work, and safety procedures. Works with other departments to drive continuous improvement efforts and reduce costs. Adjusts the production plan in time according to changes in the demand plan. Maintains production schedules in the department to ensure timely delivery of customer products. Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries. Schedules personnel based on current workload and skill availability to best utilize skills and machines. Coordinates activities between shifts. Enforces the company policies regarding safety, quality, productivity, and discipline. Resolves personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Supports Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities. Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
