Business Development Manager - Outside Sales
Ryder System, Inc. invites applications for the Business Development Manager (BDM) – Outside Sales role. The BDM is responsible for developing new customer business within the assigned sales territory and driving sales growth through an effective sales process.
Job Summary The Business Development Manager will develop sales plans, analyze profitability, and build prospects’ value perception of Ryder’s services. The role is a straight hunter position requiring extensive ground travel, salary, company cell phone, mileage reimbursement, and a strong commission opportunity.
Essential Functions
Develop pre‑sales strategy for target accounts and build a pipeline to achieve quota.
Respond proactively to leads, represent Ryder services, and collaborate with Account and Customer Development Managers.
Identify prospect needs, prepare value‑based proposals, and develop ongoing account selling strategies.
Report sales activity, ensure compliance, and build relationships with cross‑functional teams.
Engage in training to improve sales skills and industry knowledge.
Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels.
High initiative, self‑motivation, and team collaboration.
Excellent time management, organization, and follow‑up.
Good understanding of Ryder’s product offerings and financial data interpretation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of consecutive sales experience with consistent quota attainment.
Understanding of Ryder’s product offerings and ability to represent the full spectrum of services.
Capability to interpret financial data.
Compensation & Benefits Base Pay:
$55,000 – $60,000 per year plus commission and potential bonus.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, paid time off, and a matching 401(k) retirement plan.
