Summary The Program Manager will support the Hospital Compliance or Physician Compliance Department. Under the supervision of senior leadership, the Program Manager implements UNC Health’s systemwide Compliance Program—educating and training teammates, investigating misconduct, conducting audits, monitoring risks, and developing policy guidelines.
Responsibilities also include facilitating management responses to audit findings, coordinating governance committees, advising network entity leadership, assessing risks, and providing professional services as directed by senior leaders.

Lead day‑to‑day operations of UNC Health’s Hospital or Physician Compliance program, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies.
Develop, implement, and monitor compliance initiatives to meet regulatory standards and mitigate risk.
Identify, report, and resolve compliance issues across the organization in a timely manner.
Promote adherence to federal and state laws, regulations, and UNC Health policies and procedures.
Monitor changes in healthcare regulations and provide updates and guidance to leadership and teammates.
Oversee development and maintenance of policies supporting compliance with relevant healthcare laws.
Conduct regular assessments to identify risk areas; implement mitigation strategies and act as liaison for audits or investigations.
Design and manage training programs on compliance and ethics topics for teammates.
Coordinate ongoing education for senior leadership, clinical teammates, and other departments as needed.
Maintain a compliance monitoring plan, including audits, internal investigations, and reviews of practices.
Track and report program performance metrics and related compliance issues to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Collaborate with Internal Audit, Legal, ISD, Risk Management, and other departments to promote compliance.
Lead continuous improvement of the compliance program through feedback from audits, assessments, and teammate suggestions.
Stay current on best practices and trends within healthcare compliance and apply them to the program.
Other Information Education Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Health care compliance certification required within two (2) years of employment (e.g., CHC, CHPC, CPC).
Professional Experience Requirements
If Master’s degree: three (3) years of experience in health care, audit, coding, revenue cycle, legal, privacy, regulatory compliance, or related areas.
If Bachelor’s degree: five (5) years of experience in similar areas.
If Associate’s degree: seven (7) years of experience in similar areas.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to lead complex project initiatives, develop and implement program strategies, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Thorough knowledge of health care regulations, principles, concepts, and practices.
Ability to be flexible in accordance with business needs and provide strategic advice, develop options, analyze risks, make good judgments, and solve problems.
Ability to build highly effective relationships, build credibility, respect, and rapport with internal and external customers.
Ability to challenge people, situations, and current thinking creatively.
Proven ability to secure and analyze quantitative and qualitative information to develop strategies, plans, policies, and solutions.
Computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel.
