Overview
The Legal Operations Specialist will work within the Legal Affairs department of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) and encompasses a wide range of responsibilities focused on maintaining efficient legal operations and providing support for administrative matters. This position will have a key role in supporting various internal processes, including, but not limited to contract management, invoice management, claims management and legal matter management. This individual will play a pivotal role in tracking law firm billing, ensuring accurate record retention, project management, and optimizing legal department resources. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, a steadfast positive attitude and motivation to gain experience in an in-house legal department setting.
Required Qualifications
Require a minimum of two (2) years of experience within an in-house legal department, law firm, or comparable experience in another support services department.
Require a bachelor's degree. Additional relevant experience will be considered on a year-for-year basis in lieu of degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer prior experience or specific knowledge of legal systems and technology, as well as familiarity with non-disclosure agreements.
Prefer highly proficient using MSOffice (Outlook, Word, Excel) with the demonstrated ability to learn and use new computer software and systems.
Prefer the understanding of and experience with claims, risk management, and/or litigation processes.
Prefer knowledge of legal terminology and experience with drafting documents.
Prefer demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining documents and formatting, inputting, proof-reading, editing, retrieving, and copying same.
Prefer excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Prefer excellent time management skills and attention to detail, with a high degree of accuracy and success in delivering to key deadlines.
