Description of Work The UNL Plant Transformation Core Research Facility’s ( PTCRF ) mission is to develop new technologies for crop genetic improvement and support collaborative research towards engineering regenerative and resilient crops for food, biofuel, and specialized metabolite production. The PTCRF integrates research across internal departments, industry, external public institutions and the UNL Center for Plant Science Innovation into novel plant materials for field and basic research. As a Plant Transformation Research Technologist, you will: Design and conduct research on genetic engineering studies of wheat and soybeans in order to meet the Core Facilities objectives. Produce recombinant DNA constructs, plant transformation, and the analysis of transformed plants for gene expression. Be responsible for leading and documenting the progress of specific research projects associated with the position and drafting for publication. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Research Technologist I.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in plant sciences or related field plus two years of experience in a plant related research laboratory. Additional completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience in and/or knowledge of greenhouse work and operations. Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are preferred, but not required: Master’s degree in plant sciences or related field.
