St. Augustine Parish STEM Teacher Job Description Status: Salary Reports to: Principal Revised: January 5, 2026 Full-Time – 40 Hours per week (Exempt) Primary Function: Designing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. And fostering curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration through hands-on, project-based learning aligned with state and national standards.
Responsibilities & Qualifications Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver STEM lessons for students in grades K–8 that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Use inquiry-based, hands-on, and project-based learning approaches.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and grade levels.
Integrate coding, robotics, engineering design, and technology tools where appropriate.
Align instruction with state standards and school curriculum goals.
Classroom Management & Student Support
Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
Establish clear expectations for behavior, collaboration, and lab safety.
Assess student learning through projects, observations, and formative/summative assessments.
Provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular connections.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Technology & Resources
Effectively use educational technology, lab equipment, and digital tools.
Maintain and organize STEM materials and equipment.
Stay current with emerging STEM trends and instructional strategies.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, STEM-related field, or related discipline.
Teaching certification or license.
Experience teaching or working with children in grades K–8.
Strong understanding of STEM concepts and age-appropriate instructional practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with coding platforms, robotics, makerspaces, or engineering design challenges.
Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Experience with project-based or inquiry-based learning models.
Skills & Competencies
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Ability to explain complex concepts in an age-appropriate manner.
