Key Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning and Sanitizing Guest Rooms:

This is the primary duty, involving sweeping, mopping, vacuuming carpets, dusting all surfaces (furniture, fixtures, high-touch areas like remotes and light switches), and cleaning windows.

Bathroom Maintenance:

Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs, and ensuring mirrors are streak-free.

Linen Management:

Stripping beds, changing linens, and making beds according to hotel standards. This also includes replacing used towels, bath mats, and washcloths.

Restocking Supplies:

Replenishing guest room amenities such as toiletries (soap, shampoo), coffee supplies, and general items like toilet paper and stationery.

Waste Disposal:

Emptying trash receptacles and replacing garbage bags in all areas.

Public Area Upkeep:

In some roles, housekeepers are responsible for cleaning common areas like lobbies, hallways, elevators, and public restrooms, which includes vacuuming, polishing surfaces, and ensuring a presentable appearance.

Reporting and Communication:

Identifying and reporting any maintenance issues, damages, or equipment malfunctions (e.g., a burnt-out light bulb, a broken faucet) to supervisors or the maintenance department. They also communicate room status (clean, occupied, dirty) to the front desk.

Guest Interaction:

Responding to guest requests and inquiries in a professional and timely manner, such as providing extra towels or an additional bed.

Safety and Security:

Following all health and safety protocols, handling lost and found items according to hotel procedures, and maintaining the confidentiality and security of guest rooms.
