Summary / Objective The PBX Operator is responsible for operating the telephone switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing calls and for performing miscellaneous hospital communications and clerical duties.
Essential Job Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Refers to the hospital directory to ascertain station numbers of persons called and manipulates associated keys to relay calls. Pages authorized personnel and makes authorized announcements over the hospital paging system in a clear professional manner.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of all policies and procedures related to emergency procedures within the facility in order to activate appropriate communications. Implements emergency procedures in response to codes, alarms and the automated fire alarm system. Announces emergency messages associated with the alarm system in the PBX office over the hospital paging system and advises all designated personnel upon activation.
Scans any and all paper work into the hospital system given from the patient access department in a timely manner.
Utilizes interpersonal skills effectively to provide outstanding customer service to all customers.
Answers all questions of callers clearly and in a professional manner according to hospital policy.
Performs any other duties as signed and appropriate to the position.
Required Education and Experience 1 year related experience.
