Overview
Overview A General Cleaner performs a variety of janitorial and custodial duties related to the general appearance and cleanliness of the interior/exterior of the facility/building.
Responsibilities
Floor maintenance – sweep floors, hallways, corridors, and stairways, and mop, scrub, wax, and polish floor surfaces.
Restroom maintenance – wash, clean, disinfect, deodorize, and maintain restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Replace toilet tissue, towel, soap, and deodorizer as required.
Operate industrial equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners) to clean carpet, mats, runners, using chemicals and cleaning solutions as required.
Wash windows, walls, partitions, vents, grills, pipes, etc.
Move furniture, boxes, or other obstacles to accomplish cleaning duties.
Move trash, scraps, and other material to pick-up points.
Dust, wax, and polish office furniture; clean shelves and empty waste baskets.
Maintain/organize stock of restroom and janitorial supplies closets.
Clean industrial machines, tooling, mirrors, and fans.
May perform light outdoor work related to facility cleanliness (e.g., picking up litter).
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2–3 years of industrial cleaning experience.
Previous forklift experience preferred.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
Push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Standing and walking (including stairs) for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
Stoop, kneel, and bend continuously to complete assignments.
May be required to work in tight spaces.
Vision requirements: close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment
Moving mechanical parts.
Noise levels—from moderate to loud.
Cleaning chemicals/solvents.
Non-climate-controlled facility environment.
Employee may be required to work above ground level or in small work areas.
