Overview Member Engagement Coordinator leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives to recruit, engage, and retain members of the Campus Recreation Center (CRC). The role drives membership revenue through targeted outreach to Institute affiliates, community members, and summer program groups while ensuring a seamless and secure experience for all users.
Department Information The Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) is a 300,659 sq. ft. facility located on Ferst Drive. It includes a premier recreation fitness center, aquatic center, fields, and a leadership challenge course. Programming offers Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness Instruction and Classes, and Outdoor Recreation.
Job Summary Oversee all aspects of facility membership access, manage member‑engagement desk staffing, coordinate retention programs, handle budgeting and reporting, and assist with communication and marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead CRC’s member recruitment strategy, including marketing, promotions, trial membership, tours, orientation, surveys, events, and referral program.
Oversee member engagement desk staffing: hire, train, supervise student employees and provide training on membership software, customer service, and risk management.
Coordinate the member retention program: member appreciation events, renewals, reward programs, and exit surveys; synthesize feedback and recommend improvements.
Administrative tasks: budgeting, compiling and reporting revenue/expense data, locker service, deposits, refunds, and reconciliations.
Coordinate institute, community, and summer group access to the CRC.
Assist in student development initiatives, training, and practices for the department.
Collaborate with marketing and communications to promote CRC programs, services, and events.
Assist in coordinating engagement and outreach opportunities to promote CRC offerings.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, hospitality, recreation, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree as described above.
Two to four years of job‑related experience.
Experience supervising or advising student leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) instructor certification.
Master’s Degree.
Abilities Knowledge, skills, & abilities
Commitment to staff development.
High standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
Experience supervising or advising student leaders.
Knowledge of operations and services in a large recreation complex.
Basic knowledge of office applications, including advanced Excel skills.
Communication, planning, service delivery, conflict resolution skills.
Strong customer service, membership recruitment and retention, and sales skills.
