About the department / center:
The UDairy Creamery is a non‑profit, student‑run enterprise of the University of Delaware’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students receive a hands‑on, immersive education in the principles of food science, safety and production, dairy science, business management, entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture.
Role Description:
Under the general direction of the UDairy Creamery Management Team, Student Supervisors, and the Student Management Team, the Team Member is responsible for serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner, completing daily tasks to maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment and overall contribute to the student‑run atmosphere and experience that is unique to UDairy Creamery. This position requires flexibility between our Flagship location (serving and production), the UDairy Creamery Cafe, the Moo Mobile, and off‑site events.
Efficiently and courteously serve customers in our retail locations (including the Flagship and Café) and off‑site events (both on the Moo Mobile and events on the University campus)
Complete tasks assigned by Creamery Managers and Student Supervisors
Take initiative to tackle tasks that maintain clean, sanitized, and organized establishment
Ability to stock, clean, and inventory working space to help expedite service
Must be able to work under high stress situations
Must be willing to interact with customers and answer questions in regards to our mission, product, and services or willingly ask for assistance to answer presented questions
Produce ice cream in an efficient and thorough manner by following written recipes and procedures
Primary Responsibilities:
Serve customers in a friendly, respectful and expedient manner
Follow standard cleaning and sanitizing procedures and safe food handling
Operate a cash register and accurately accept money and give change
Work in ice cream production – making ice cream to be served to customers
Prepare cakes and other specialty items
Prepare and serve items including but not limited to ice cream, milkshakes, sandwiches, specialty coffee drinks and more
Qualifications:
Retail or food handling experience preferred
Must be able and willing to take direction and instruction from Managers and Student Supervisors
Must be willing to work in a team environment
Friendly, welcoming, and hospitable attitude required
Requirements:
Must be available to work nights and weekends
Must be available to attend in‑person interview
Must be available for in‑person training if hired. September 6th and 7th, 8‑11 am.
Must be comfortable lifting items weighing 20‑30lbs and items weighing 50lbs or more with assistance
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be willing to work in extreme heat, extreme cold, and outdoor settings
February 3rd: Qualified candidates notified of interview
February 6th: In‑person Interviews
February 9th‑12th: Offers Made
