Salary Range : $15.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Forno Osteria & Bar:A Taste of Italy nestled in downtown Montgomery. Forno Osteria & Bar offers a classic, rustic Italian dining experience complete with wood-fired Neapolitan Style Pizza and Housemad Pasta, that delights the senses and transports you to Italy. Chef Cristian Pietoso's passion for Italian cuisine is evident in every dish. We are currently looking for a host/hostess to help facilitate an unforgettable experience for our guests.

A host's job includesanswering phones, making reservations, greeting guests, managing wait times, and seating guests:

Greeting guests

Hosts are the first and last impression of a business, so they should be friendly and welcoming.

Managing wait times

Hosts manage lines at the door and ensure that guests are seated in a timely manner.

Managing the seating chart

Hosts allocate guests to tables and ensure that the seating chart is organized so that the headcounts are fairly distributed.

Other responsibilities

Assist with clearing and resetting tables

Assist with drink refills

Cleaning and restocking restrooms with supplies

Cleaning front area to make it presentable for guest arrival

Hosts should have strong communication and organizational skills, a friendly disposition, and the ability to stand or walk for long periods. They should also be willing to learn computerized reservation and table management systems.

Hours: Part Time (less than 30 hours) and Full Time (30-40 hours weekly) available.

Pay: $15/Hr plus tips

Benefits: 70% Coverage for Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance available to full time employees. 401k available for full time employees after a year of employment.

Qualifications

Communication Skills:

A hostess must be a clear, confident, and friendly communicator, both in person and potentially over the phone for reservations.

Customer Service Skills:

A welcoming and positive attitude is crucial for making guests feel comfortable and valued.

Organizational Skills:

Managing reservations, seating charts, and waiting lists effectively requires strong organizational abilities.

Ability to Handle Pressure:

Restaurants can be busy, so the ability to remain calm and professional during peak hours is important.

Physical Stamina:

Hostesses often stand and walk for extended periods.

Basic Math Skills:

Some hostess roles may involve simple calculations for wait times or handling payments.

Experience:

Prior experience in the hospitality industry or in customer service roles is often preferred.

Familiarity with Restaurant Technology:

Knowledge of reservation systems or POS systems is a bonus.

Teamwork:

Hostesses often work closely with other staff members, so the ability to be a team player is essential.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Dealing with unexpected situations, like seating conflicts or long wait times, requires good problem-solving abilities.

Flexibility:

Hostesses may need to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Adaptability:

A willingness to learn and adapt to the specific needs of the restaurant is helpful.
