Gardener 2 (Full time) - Smithfield UT Temple
We are looking for a dedicated Gardener to maintain the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple grounds in Smithfield, UT. This full‑time role supports the Church’s mission by ensuring the grounds reflect the highest standards of care and by assisting on seasonal displays.
Job Description
Ensure the temple grounds reflect the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience.
Maintain standards established by the First Presidency.
Perform gardener/grounds‑keeping work, including caring for landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, building entrances, and other designated zones.
Resolve routine questions and problems; refer more complex issues to higher levels.
Assist with seasonal displays.
Responsibilities
Mow lawns using hand and power mowers, maintain the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees.
Trim and edge around walls, flower beds, and walkways using hand clippers and power edging tools; operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment as needed.
Prune and shape shrubs and trees to promote optimal growth and enhance overall appearance.
Apply herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides; conduct regular fertilization in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ensure all power equipment and machines are properly maintained.
Provide guidance to volunteers in the maintenance of grounds.
Water lawn and garden areas as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Two to four years of experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture, gardening, agriculture, landscape design, or a related field.
Knowledge of various plants and fertilizers.
Ability to follow directions, work independently and with a team.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
