**Job Title**Technician I**Agency**Texas A&M University**Department**Chemistry**Proposed Minimum Salary**Commensurate**Job Location**College Station, Texas**Job Type**Staff**Job Description****Here’s a Glimpse of the Job**The **Technician I** supports the Organic Teaching Laboratory Program by helping plan and supervise technical operations while providing training and oversight to student workers in the preparation of chemical solutions, maintenance of laboratory supplies, facility readiness, and safe handling of hazardous waste.**Opportunities to Contribute*** Maintains and updates the chemical mixtures recipe book while determining required quantities for individual experiments and full‑course preparations.* Oversees student workers in preparing standardized chemical solutions and mixtures for upcoming laboratory experiments.* Coordinates student workers to keep laboratories stocked with essential materials and chemicals while assisting with inventory management and purchasing specifications for organic teaching labs.* Assists in securing organic laboratory facilities at the end of classes, ensuring proper organization, safety, and readiness for upcoming sessions.* Assists in supervising hazardous waste consolidation, labeling, segregation, and disposal for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Program while examining preparation areas for hazards and recommending corrective actions.* Supports the Technical Laboratory Coordinator and Safety Officer in chemical waste collection and regulatory compliance for the Departmental Hazardous Waste Facility, including ensuring proper container identification and occasionally transporting placarded hazardous materials.* Assists with new employee safety orientation and Hazard Communications Awareness for student workers.**Qualifications*** High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Two years of related experience.**A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:*** Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.* Ensure attention to detail.* Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Ability to work non-standard hours.**Salary:** Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.**What you need to do:**A Select the Apply button to begin your application.
