Position Overview Join our team as a Head Start Teacher Aide and help shape the future! In this role, you will support the Head Start Teacher in fostering the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development of children in a safe, nurturing environment. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a positive learning space, supervising children, and engaging parents in their child's education. This is a 10-month position (August-June).

Key Responsibilities Instructional Support

Assist with classroom activities, including bilingual/multicultural education and support for children with disabilities.

Help assess children's growth and development.

Individualize activities to meet each child's unique needs.

Engage parents in classroom and at-home learning activities.

Child Supervision & Safety

Supervise children at all times, ensuring a safe, supportive environment.

Respond to emergencies by providing first aid, CPR, and accessing emergency services as needed.

Classroom Environment

Prepare and organize materials for lessons and activities.

Maintain a clean, orderly, and literacy-rich environment that encourages exploration and learning.

Promote family-style meals by engaging children in positive social interactions during mealtime.

Administrative Support

Record attendance, meal counts, and other essential data using Child Plus.

Input information from home visits and parent conferences.

Collaboration

Work closely with the teacher, supervisors, and specialists to integrate recommendations and create a cohesive program.

Qualifications Required

Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.

Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 30 days of employment).

Ability to work at any center within the area.

Must pass a physical exam, TB test, and background checks.

Valid driver's license and insured vehicle.

Preferred

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

At least 3 months of experience working with children aged 3-5.

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and squat for extended periods.

Lift or carry children or objects up to 50 pounds.
