Kindergarten Paraeducator
LOCATION Sunset Heights Elementary School
STARTING DATE January 20, 2026
SALARY RANGE
Instructional: $18.01 – $25.26 / hr
Pre‑School, District Wide/Intensive Needs: $18.94 – $26.27 / hr
Placement based on prior experience
QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED. Title 1 schools require Highly Qualified Status, including either an Associate’s Degree or two years of college, a bachelor’s degree, or Paraeducator II certification from the NH Dept of Education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Paraeducator Under the direction of the classroom teacher, assists in implementing and reinforcing the instructional curriculum, helps prepare and administer testing, provides input to teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration regarding student performance. Title 1, Kindergarten, ELL and Special Education Instructional paraeducators fall under this category.
Pre‑School Paraeducator Assists students by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned age groups.
Technical Paraeducator Assists students in day‑to‑day operations of the program by helping with assignments using materials and technology. Job Coach, Alternative Room, Science, Computer, Graphic Arts, Health Occupation paraeducators are technical paras.
District Wide Special Education Paraeducator Assists with implementation of IEP goals and objectives pertaining to educational needs, social‑emotional, behavioral development, fine and gross motor skills to foster independence. Also assists with physical and minimal health needs of the children, including lifting, feeding, toileting/diapering, and personal hygiene.
