About the Position
Full time Janitor
Location: Lakewood, CO
Salary Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Target Fill Date: Applications accepted on an ongoing basis
Primary Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers, replace light bulbs
Refill restroom dispensers
Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools including buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high‑speed buffers, and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required
Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use, check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off the lights
Follow instructions regarding the appropriate use of chemicals and supplies
Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs using hand‑operated tools or small power equipment
Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis
Wash accessible interior and exterior windows; clean blinds
Launder cleaning rags and dust mops
Additional duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Must understand and demonstrate basic knowledge of cleaning
Basic computer skills helpful
Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Excellent organizational abilities
Demonstrated teamwork skills
Ability to deal with change
Demonstrates a positive attitude toward initiating continuous improvement
Ability to respond appropriately even in challenging situations
Ability to work independently with little supervision to perform assigned tasks
Ability to prioritize tasks involving frequent interruptions
Working Conditions This role works across campus buildings, performing cleaning and maintenance in offices, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas. The position requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may involve using cleaning chemicals, power equipment, ladders, and completing tasks in low or kneeling positions. Occasional outdoor duties, such as snow or debris removal, may be required. Noise from equipment and varying temperatures may occur while maintaining a clean and safe campus environment.
