Job Summary The Utility Clerk is responsible for general maintenance and cleaning duties, ensuring high safety and sanitation standards for members and team members. Key tasks include returning carts to the club entrance, maintaining cleanliness throughout the club, and operating housekeeping equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide members with prompt, courteous service.
Maintain cleanliness of all club areas, including sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
Return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the entrance and remove trash or debris.
Ensure carts are well‑stocked, working, and clean; remove unsuitable carts.
Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
Perform maintenance, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, glass washing, trash emptying, and pallet pulling.
Maintain outdoor grounds, cart corrals, sidewalks, and trash receptacles.
Prioritize maintenance and cleaning responsibilities efficiently.
Operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler safely.
Restock supplies and keep supply areas clean and organized.
Carry out minor repairs and notify management of major concerns.
Adhere to all club policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, including work in other departments.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Qualifications
Must complete required training and certification.
Prior maintenance or janitorial experience preferred, but not required.
Prior retail/wholesale experience preferred.
May be under 18 for parking‑lot cart functions; must be over 18 to operate equipment or enter age‑restricted areas.
Environmental Job Conditions
Work mainly on hard surfaces; frequent bending, climbing, and reaching.
Lift up to 30 lbs; may handle heavier loads with assistance.
Use of cleaning agents, paint, and chemicals.
Exposure to indoor/outdoor temperatures and occasional extreme temperatures in freezers and coolers.
Work both indoors and outdoors, with regular exposure to weather conditions.
Compensation Estimated salary range: $16.25 – $19.50 per hour, depending on location, education, and experience.
